A study reported in the JAMA that trauma related oral cancers may occur more often in non-smokers than in smokers.
The lateral edges of the tongue is where sharp and irregular teeth most often cause injury in the mouth. The researchers found about twice the incidence of cancer on the lateral edges of the tongue in non-smokers as in smokers.
