The Newtown, Connecticut, school shootings have raised questions in the minds of many. Why did he do it? What is going in his mind? What makes a person do such terrible things. This article responds to these questions. Thoughts of violence provide such intense gratification that some people follow through on their thoughts. Most of us have momentary thoughts of violence and sometimes experience a small thrill when we do, but for us, we quickly think about consequences and we stop.
